Senior Year Career and College Planning Checklist
Class of 2026 Important dates
September
- Review your course schedule–take the most challenging and appropriate classes for your abilities.
- Stay involved in extracurricular activities—balance fun with academics.
- Plan and register for any final ACT or SAT tests, if needed.
- Finalize college list with names of schools and begin completing applications.
- Still researching post high school options, use the following websites to help in your career and college search:
- Attend presentations by college representatives with virtual visits.
- Watch for virtual College Fairs and Events.
- Letters of Recommendation. If you are asking a staff member to complete this for you, you need to give them at least a 2-week’ notice.
- Make a calendar and organize important activities and tasks for the semester and year.
- Fill out the application for the Seattle Promise College Scholarship and Success Program Application.
- Complete all current and unfinished High School and Beyond tasks through Naviance.
- If you have proficiency in a language other than English sign up to take the STAMP test to earn between 1-4 credits.
October
- Sign up to take the ASVAB in November if this is your graduation pathway or back up. Testing date TBD
- Keep your grades up–use any resources available to help you get the most out of your classes.
- Take the SAT
- Start working on FAFSA, WASFA and CSS Profile, if planning to attend college after high school
- Continue completing applications.
- Make sure you have filled out the application for the Seattle Promise College Scholarship and Success Program Application.
- Complete all current and unfinished High School and Beyond tasks through Naviance.
- If you have proficiency in a language other than English sign up to take the STAMP test to earn between 1-4 credits.
November
- ASVAB testing for VO students. Earning a 31+ will complete the graduation pathway. Testing date TBD
- Keep your grades up–use any resources available to help you get the most out of your classes.
- Watch for AP Exam registration if interested. Must be registered and paid to take AP Exam(s) in May.
- Continue completing applications.
- Review your calendar and activities/tasks list and adjust as needed.
- Make sure you have filled out the application for the Seattle Promise College Scholarship and Success Program Application.
- Complete all current and unfinished High School and Beyond tasks through Naviance.
- If you have proficiency in a language other than English sign up to take the STAMP test to earn between 1-4 credits.
December
- Continuing completing applications.
- FAFSA, WASFA
- Check grades and seek help for academic areas you may be struggling with now.
- If your plan is to transfer to another school, so that you can graduate with them. You need to contact the enrollment office to make the request.
- Make sure you have filled out the application for the Seattle Promise College Scholarship and Success Program Application.
- Complete all current and unfinished High School and Beyond tasks through Naviance.
- If you have proficiency in a language other than English sign up to take the STAMP test to earn between 1-4 credits.
January
- If your plan is to transfer to another school, so that you can graduate with them. You need to contact the enrollment office to make the request.
- Keep focused with classes, finish out 1st semester strong
- Scholarship research and application completion continues.
- Make sure you have filled out the application for the Seattle Promise College Scholarship and Success Program Application.
- Complete all current and unfinished High School and Beyond tasks through Naviance.
- If you have proficiency in a language other than English sign up to take the STAMP test to earn between 1-4 credits.
February
- New semester—review what went well and what did not from 1st semester—adjust as needed.
- Continue to research post high school options, use all resources to help move toward your goal.
- Scholarship research and application completion continues
- Complete Seattle Promise Application as a post high school college option. Deadline to apply is February 13, 2026.
- Complete all current and unfinished High School and Beyond tasks through Naviance.
- If you have proficiency in a language other than English sign up to take the STAMP test to earn between 1-4 credits. Last change to take the STAMP test is March 7, 2026.
March
- Scholarship research and application completion continues
- Complete all current and unfinished High School and Beyond tasks through Naviance.
- If you have proficiency in a language other than English sign up to take the STAMP test to earn between 1-4 credits.
April
- FAFSA/WASFA – by Thursday, April 30, 2026
- Check grades and keep working hard.
- Finalize college acceptance process.
- Scholarship research and application completion continues
- Complete all current and unfinished High School and Beyond tasks through Naviance.
May
- Seattle Promise Readiness Academy – Sessions will run in May and June 2026.
- Continue to research post high school options, use all resources to help move toward your goal.
- Prepare to take your AP Exams (if applicable).
- Scholarship research and application completion continues.
- Start researching summer opportunities including internships, jobs, volunteer work, summer programs, etc.
- Make an appointment with Counselor Carly for senior-check out only if you have completed all of your High School and Beyond Plan, have turned in your service learning, and are at a minimum, 80% complete through ALL classes.
- The final High School and Beyond task- Senior Exit Survey- should be available this month.
- Complete all current and unfinished High School and Beyond tasks through Naviance.
- If you did not complete the requirements for your graduation pathway, your last chance at completing it will be the District sponsored ASVAB testing that should take place this month.
June
- Seattle Promise Readiness Academy – Sessions will run in May and June 2026.
- Finish your classes and high school career on a positive note.
- Make an appointment with Counselor Carly for senior-check out only if you have completed all of your High School and Beyond Plan, have turned in your service learning, and are at a minimum, 80% complete through ALL classes.
- Cascade Virtual Option Graduation date: TBD
(We cannot support requests to participate in the graduation ceremonies at other schools)
July-August
- Seattle Promise Campus Connect (formerly Summer Bridge) – Sessions will run in August and Sept. 2026
- Diplomas and transcripts will be available for pick up or mailing.
